If you’re around long enough...Among the notable students that participated in our school during 2006 were Chase Mattioli, Conor Daly and Jonathan Scarallo.
Chase is the grandson of Joe Mattioli, the long time owner of Pocono Int’l Raceway. After finishing his licensing school in the spring, Chase participated in the Roos F-2000 race series. In his very first outing, he won at a rain soaked Virginia Int’l Raceway (cousin Nick Igdalsky added to the family trophy case by winning later in the year).
For 2007, Chase will be competing in S.C.C.A. Nationals campaigning a Formula Ford for the Hot Shoe Racing team. The 17 year old will also be busy with an oval track program at Music City Motorplex in Nashville, TN.
Conor Daly is the son of former Formula One and Indy Car driver Derek Daly. Conor got his first taste of formula car racing in West Palm Beach, FL. Conor, who is one of the top karters in the U.S., will be announcing his 2007 racing plans shortly. He is the third son of former F-1 drivers to attend the Roos School. Does Michael Andretti ring a bell?? Oh...and Conor is only “15”.
Jonathan Scarallo is the “very” young brother of Joey Scarallo, a stalwart of the Trans-Am Series over the past few years, and a Roos graduate himself. Jonathan has competed in several Roos F-2000 races, and will be competing full time in the series during 2007. Brother Joey will also be returning to the formula car ranks. He will be competing in the Indy Pro Series, teaming up with former Roos graduate, and current Roos instructor Andrew Prendeville. Both will be driving for Andersen Racing.
