Bertil Roos Racing School Offers Two Distinct Formula Cars

Bertil Roos Racing School’s Formula cars are the ultimate tools when learning performance arts and driving. Our school offers two distinct Formula cars, the Formula 2000 race car and the Formula R/T 2000 race car, which each feature manual transmissions.

Nearly every professional race driver of note and most amateurs have spent time in Formula cars, especially in the early stages of driving.

Senses, especially sight and feel, are heightened in a Formula car. Visual training, with Bertil Roos’ ocular driving techniques are best taught in an open-cockpit car which has no A pillars, no windshield, no center-mounted rear mirror and no forward blind spot.

Other skills like car control, line correction and important advanced skills are much easier to learn in nimble, lightweight Formula cars. The learning curve is accelerated in Formula cars which feature high grip and modest power.

With the low center of gravity and minimum body roll compared to a full-bodied car, they are much more predictable and responsive corrections.

Formula 2000 race car

The Formula 2000 race car features an unparalleled feel with an extremely responsive chassis.

• 130hp, 2-liter, 4-cylinder, carbureted engine

• 4-speed, H-pattern manual transmission

• 1,300 lbs. curb weight

• Performance radial tires

When driven properly, these cars will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds, reach 130 mph in the draft, pull up to 2 g’s in the corners and stop on a dime.

With a reclined seating position and Indy-style body, your view of the track mimics that of the pros when they are battling it out on the track.

Formula R/T 2000 race car

The Formula R/T 2000 race car features lightning fast with extremely acceleration and extreme grip.

• 135hp, 2-liter, 4-cylinder, fuel injected engine

• 5-speed, sequential transmission

• 1,400 lbs. curb weight

• Performance radial tires

Used at Palm Beach International Raceway and in our Bertil Roos Winter Race Series, these cars are appealing to the beginner looking to develop their skills or Bertil Roos veterans looking for a new challenge.

The R/T 200 weighs just 1,400 pounds, accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and is capable of speeds up to 130 mph. With high performance radial tires, students feel both maximum traction and learn the subtleties of slip angle management.

With both cars, safety is our highest priority. Our cars are designed and engineered to ensure our drivers experience the fastest, safest laps of their lives.
