Foley Moves Closer to BRRS Title With Pocono Sweep

LONG POND, Pa. — Seth Foley’s march towards the Bertil Roos Race Series championship continued with a sweep of Group 2 races at the Pocono Raceway South course, Sept. 27-28.

In what has been a dream season, Foley scored his sixth and seventh wins of the year. 

Foley had the fastest time in qualifying at 1:05.19 and used that to his advantage in the first race for the Group 2 cars. With the battling for position intense behind him, Geoff Valentino was the runner-up. Derek Jose finished third, followed by Rich White in fourth and Frank Anelante fifth.

The top four remained the same in race No. 2 with Foley, Valentino, Jose and White all maintaining their positions. Jimmy Dai broke up the top-five repeat by taking the fifth spot.

Frank Tiano won for the second time this season in the Group 1 opener. Gabe Jasper held on for a second-place finish with fast qualifier Andy Ourant third. Adam Colombo and Vinnie Virga rounded out the top five.

Jasper earned his first win of the season in the second Group 1 race. Colombo powered to the runner-up spot as 2018 series champion Ourant scored another third-place finish. Virga and Tiano took the fourth and fifth spots.

Foley holds a 278-264 advantage over Jose in the point standings after drops of their worst finishes. Valentino is third with 243 points, followed by Colombo with 237 points and Tim Nichols with 223 points. 

Pocono Raceway hosts the final weekend of the 2019 Bertil Roos Race Series, Oct. 11-12 races held on the South/East track.
